DRYDEN TOWN BOARD
Statement on May 3rd Special Town Election
May 4, 2016
Registered voters in the Town of Dryden decided yesterday, by a margin of 1188 to 936, not to purchase a 15 acre undeveloped parcel located on Pinckney Road and Fall Creek. The Town Board is pleased with the strong turnout and is proud of the town’s administration of the special referendum, which was planned and conducted with the utmost professionalism. The Board is especially grateful to the Town Clerk, Bambi Avery, and her staff for their efforts in implementing the Board’s plan for this referendum. While it’s clear there is a need for more recreational opportunities throughout the town, it’s also clear that majority of voters prefer the town not to acquire this particular parcel for that purpose. The Board commends residents for expressing their views and participating in the referendum. Results of this vote will help guide the Board in future decisions concerning the enhancement of recreational opportunities. The Board is hopeful that another purchaser can be found who will be a good steward of the Pinckney Road parcel, and looks forward to assisting in that effort.
