Environmental Planner
Dan is originally from Big Flats, NY where he graduated from Horseheads High School, and went on to attend Corning Community College, then Plattsburgh State University (BA Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management and Environmental Planning, minor in Planning), and then to SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry where he earned an MPS degree in Environmental Policy and Democratic Processes.
Dan Kwasnowski began work as Dryden’s environmental planner in October of 2005. Before accepting this position Dan was a Water Resources consultant working on community based river restoration projects as well as hydropower projects nationwide. Before that he was a River Restoration Specialist at the not for profit New York Rivers United where he specialized in restoration through dam removal.
Dan lives in Marcellus, NY with his wife Karen and two children Jonah, 4 and Colden, 10 months. Karen is a Remote Sensing Specialist at the Institute for the Application of Geospatial Technology at Cayuga Community College.

The Environmental Planner’s job includes:
- Helping the town to implement a Stormwater Management Plan (as required by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation).
- Supporting the work of Dryden’s Conservation Advisory Board.
- Supporting the work of Dryden’s Planning Board, and especially helping with the Comprehensive Planning process.
- Working on bicycle / pedestrian trails for the Town.
- Collaborating with USGS on an aquifer study for the Town.
- Assisting the Town Board and Zoning Department as needed.
