In Memoriam of James “Jim” Skaley

James “Jim” Skaley (1943-2022)
Dryden Town Board (2020-2022)

The Town of Dryden grieves the loss of our friend and former Board member, Jim Skaley, who passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve surrounded by his wife Jan and their family. Jim was an insightful and thoughtful advocate for Dryden and particularly, Varna, where he resided. His voice and friendly demeanor will be greatly missed at our meetings. Prior to serving on the Town Board, Jim served on the Town’s planning board. In 2012, as a volunteer, Jim helped develop the Varna Plan. As a Town Board member, Jim led the planning and development of infrastructure upgrades that are coming to Varna in the next few years. More recently Jim helped create the Town’s Workforce and Affordable Housing Committee. Jim’s expertise and knowledge were great assets to town government.

Jim was also an active member of the Varna Community Association — if you ever attended one of their Sunday Pancake Breakfasts you may have met him there.

We will miss Jim and offer our deepest condolences to his family.
